Our Mission

At Dower and Associates, Inc., we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with speech, language, and behavioral challenges through compassionate, evidence-based therapy and instruction. With a focus on children diagnosed with speech/language delays, autism spectrum disorder, and other developmental disabilities, our goal is to empower individuals and their families to reach their full potential.

Led by Nikia Dower, a seasoned Speech-Language Pathologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with nearly 40 years of experience, our practice blends the latest advancements in research with a deep commitment to personalized care. We recognize that every client and family is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet individual needs, ensuring positive, functional outcomes. 

Since its founding in 1993, Dower and Associates expanded from a small private practice to a multidisciplinary team offering a wide range of services, including speech and language therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and specialized tutoring. Our innovative programs, such as the "Camp Communicate with Confidence," set us apart as leaders in inclusive, behavior-analytic social skills training.

Over the years, we proudly served thousands of children, adolescents, and adults, both in our community and beyond. We continue to operate with the same core values of empathy, transparency, and dedication to best practices. Whether through clinic-based services, in-school support, or home-based programs, we have been committed to making a meaningful difference in every client's life.

In 2018, Ms. Nikia downsized her practice and has been a solo practitioner, focused on 1:1 speech/language service, focused ABA instruction and tutoring services for children and adolescents.

Ms. Nikia’s leadership extends beyond her practice. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including her role as President of the Speech Pathology Applied Behavior Analysis (SPABA) Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and as a board member of both Commonwealth Autism and the BF Skinner Foundation.

With a passion for lifelong learning and advocacy, Ms. Nikia remains dedicated to her mission: to provide efficient, effective, and evidence-based services that enhance the quality of life for all those we serve. As we look to the future, our commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence remains unwavering.
